About Lemar

Lemar Environmental Limited has a twenty five year history of innovation and expertise in the handling, treatment and disposal of various waste sludges.

The company was established in 1978 with the objective of designing and developing a process to produce lanolin, alcohols and acids from wool grease, and to recover cholesterol from the alcohol fraction.  The success of the project at a wool scour in Christchurch led to an international award for “outstanding contributions to environmental protection” at the 8th International Wool Textile Research Conference in 1990.

Lemar’s experience with effluent treatment and disposal led it to consider the treatment of other waste streams, including palm oil, meat, dairy and potassium recovery.

The company identified several new industry opportunities and since 1996 has been developing and modifying its technology to treat municipal sewage sludge.  Following successful trials utilising a pilot plant dryer and vitrification unit, Lemar was awarded the contract to build a sludge vitrification plant for the Kapiti Coast District Council, incorporating sewage from Paraparaumu and subsequently Waikanae.

Lemar’s groundbreaking Sludge Vitrification Process is a comprehensive environmental solution that revolutionises sustainable waste management and is the result of the company’s focus on economically viable, environmentally friendly and culturally sensitive technology.

We are committed to our clients and to the environment.  We listen, we understand, we respond and we solve.
