Benefits

Independance

Vitrification is a total in house treatment which minimises reliance on other contractors. Except for start-ups no external fuel is required – independent from fuel price fluctuations.

The final 'product' is a glassy slag which has several potential uses or can be easily disposed to landfill without restriction – independent from cartage contractors, land availability, legislation or public perceptions.

The Vitrification Process
The Environment

Because all the processing is carried out in one location there is only one tightly monitored and controlled source of environmental impact. All emissions to air or water meet or exceed stringent EU regulations.
This contrasts with land disposal where there are often many scattered sources of emission such as transport exhaust, dust and odour from spreading etc. The result is an exceptionally environmentally friendly total solution.

Economics

Combustion processes are often regarded as expensive, but this is not the case with the Lemar Vitrification plant. Although capital costs are higher than thermal drying this is offset by savings in energy. Overall disposal costs are highly competitive even down to relatively low plant throughput.
